Simple Potato Soup

By

I make a potato soup thats, simple, fairly quick, and delicious! Our leftovers never last. It comes out as a thick soup, almost a chowder like consistency.

To start, find four to five large potatoes. Peel the potatoes, then dice into pieces approximately and inch. Put all pieces into a large pan. Take 3 to 4 tbsp of butter, tub butter is fine, and melt it in the potatoes, coating all the pieces until they take on a golden gloss. Add 2-3 cups of milk, enough so as to cover all the potatoes. I don't bother wasting the water to boil the potatoes then add the water, they boil just as well with the milk, and by doing so, it gains the thicker consistency.

While letting the potatoes and milk boil, get a package of ground sausage. I've found that italian tastes best, but you can make normal taste similiar to italian. I cook half the package, but if you want more or less, adjust accordingly. Cook the sausage completely, if it's original, just add a pinch of oregano, thyme, and garlic salt for a little italian flavoring. I also keep the sausage ground up finely, but again, you can have it fine, or in large chunks, its your choice!

Once the potatoes are soft, and cooked through, stir in the sausage, stir slowly, the potatoes will mash and mush if you rush it too much. Add a little garlic salt, pepper, and if your wanting a litle extra flavor a hint of chili powder. (Not to much, or it'll overpower the sausage.)

Remove from heat, and serve!

It sounded so delicious. I never thought of using milk instead of water to cook the potatoes. Very interesting idea. My kids LOVE butter. We have potatoes in the house so I will give it a try today. I will let you know the out come. Thanks for sharing this. Voted up and yummy! Have a great day! :)

I figured out the milk and skipping water as a way to save time, and water, plus I loved the texture so much more then, instead of it being more, well soupy! thanks and hope you enjoy!

I made the potato soup tonight. Based on your recipe, I added some cream cheese and garlic powder. It was so delicious that my children asked for second servings. They also asked for more tomorrow. Yum, Yum. I took a picture of it, but don't know where I can upload it. I am also new here and still trying to figure out the way around here. Anyway, thanks you so much for sharing. :)
